The BASICS of Facial SkinCare

Updated: Feb 15, 2022

These few steps are all you need to do daily for a youthful looking skin.

‘Facial skin care’ is more a matter of discipline than anything else. A facial skincare routine is what you need (and you need to follow the facial skincare routine with complete seriousness). So let’s check what comprises an effective facial skin care routine. Well, very simply, a facial skincare routine can follow the following 4 steps:

Deep hydrate and treat (Serum)

“Serums are lighter in texture and the active ingredients are delivered into the deeper layers of the skin quickly. This is why many add this step into their skincare regime.”

Cleansing is the first thing in a facial skin care routine. Cleansing helps in removing dust, pollutants, grease and extra oil from your skin, thereby preventing damage to your skin. Just spot your face and neck with a good cleansing lotion or cream and gently massage it into your skin using upward strokes. Use a soft face tissue or cotton facial pads to wipe your face in a gentle patting fashion (do not rub). Cleansing should be done at least twice a day i.e. morning and evening. Water-soluble cleansers are the best for inclusion in your facial skincare routine.

Using enzyme-based cleansers, like Peau Pure's Cleanser from the Basic Range, is one way to ensure you slough off those dead skin cells off your face daily. A good cleanser will cleanse your skin thoroughly without stripping off your skin of its natural oils. Avoid the use of soaps especially those with sulphates.

Toning is the next in a facial skincare routine. Even though the use of toner is an optional part of the facial skincare routine, we greatly encourage you to include this step as part of your daily skincare. Toning helps remove all traces of dirt, grease and excess cleanser when you use it with a facial pad.

Using toner will also help in preparing your skin to better absorb the myriad of benefits your serum and moisturiser offer to your skin.

Deep Hydrate and Treat with a Serum

Deep hydration is the key to having a supple feel and fresh-looking skin. Serums are lighter in texture and the active ingredients are delivered into the deeper layers of the skin quickly. This is why many add this step into their skincare regime. It allows them to treat the skin, reducing the appearance of dullness, fine lines, discolouration and acne, among others. Many find that they see desired results more quickly when they add the use of serum daily.

Choose amongst our several serum options Peau Pure offers. Or you can layer them onto your skin to benefit from the different serums to treat your skin.

Moisturising is the last step. In fact, moisturising is the most important part of facial skincare routine. Moisturisers prevent your skin from getting both dry and too oily.

Dry skin is really undesirable since it causes the upper layer skin to break, leading to dead skin cells. On the other hand, oily skin is not pleasant as well. A good moisturiser helps you maintain the balance of your skin, helping in the prevention of breakouts, acne and wrinkles.

A good moisturiser can counter your skin conditions. Choose the right moisturiser for your skin type. Some moisturisers can counter both dry and oily skin. It's in the formulation that makes a moisturiser do what it can or cannot do.

Again, use light upward strokes to make the moisturiser more effective. Moisturisers work the best when applied on warm and damp skin. So do not try to remove all the moisture in the previous steps of facial skincare routine.

Peau Pure Moisturiser from the Basic Range is enzyme-based. Thus it helps those with oily skin as it acts as an exfoliant while dissolving dead skin cells preventing the clogging of your pores.
